Two quick ones
1. The other day one of my coworkers was talking to one of those people who was horribly upset that we asked her to stay home for a couple of hours. What's up with that, anyway? I mean, yes, I know there are times when it's really not possible to stay home. The guy who was going to his mother's funeral mass comes to mind. But surely there's some time in the next week when you can spend two hours relaxing at home with a good book?
But I digress. This lady would not schedule a time for a trouble call unless we agreed to have the tech pick up her kids at school. Virtual prize to the person who can list the most reasons why that's not going to happen.
2. Just get used to 10 digit dialling. On a landline get used to 11 digit dialling. Yeah, some of you weirdos in the sticks of New Hampshire are still getting away with only seven digits, you unnatural freaks. We're going to make you dial the area code (and a 1 first!!!! OMGBBQ!!!!!!) when you call more than a few miles away. Suck up and deal. If that's really going to make your fingers fall off, speed dial is one of the features that comes with the service.
