What a fascinating life I lead . . . I'm currently sucked into a game that involves breeding fish. I basically shove the fish together, they make little kissing sounds, and twenty minutes later little fishies mysteriously appear. Two hours later the fishies are grown up, and I can see what species they are. It's a high-octane rocket-propelled version of watching paint dry. So why do I keep doing this? I dunno. The fish are pretty.

In other news, I love the world-wide nature of the world-wide web. I made a decision after Birka that I'd take some of the profit from that and expand my historical bead book library. There was a book that I'd had for a while because a friend got it on interlibrary loan through the university where she works. It was on small glass items, mostly beads, in the collection of the Israel Museum. I had to give the book back, which is what I don't like about libraries, and I've been missing it. Average price in the US for this book is $99 and up. I just bought a copy from Israel. Even splurging for the faster delivery (2 weeks instead of 3 months), it's still only $75.
