In the latest turn of events, that stubbornness had taken the form of him insisting on taking public transit to school despite the fact that Cal State Northridge was about 25 miles away, arguing that even if he had a license and a car, it'd take him half the day to find parking there and

And the phone rang...

"Anders here, welcome to the house of insanity," came the slightly sulky-sounding response.

[lovelylana]

"House of insanity?" Lana said curiously.

[cantgetnorelief]

"Yeah." Anders sighed. "Hi, Lana. We're in L.A. now. Long story, still not quite sure how it happened exactly, but . . . insanity."

[lovelylana]

"LA?" Lana said. "How did - never mind. Where in LA?"

[cantgetnorelief]

Anders mumbled something that sounded a lot like 'Hyperion.'

"Seriously, I have no idea . . ."

[lovelylana]

"Did you say the Hyperion? With Angel? And Logan? And Bel's there too?" That didn't sound promising.

[cantgetnorelief]

"Yup," Anders said. "Thus, insanity. Anyway. How are you?"

[lovelylana]

"Wow," Lana said. "I'll guess."

"I actually am doing great. My classes are good, I'm working for one of my department heads, who is also one of my heros in this field and I really like Connecticut."

He could probably hear the smile in her voice.

[cantgetnorelief]

"You sound like you're doing great," Anders replied with obvious approval -- and relief. "Busy, productive, moving up in the world, all that good stuff. I, on the other hand, am doing the 400-level course in the wonders of public transit. Which, lemme tell ya, sucks in this city."

[lovelylana]

"Yeah, I'll bet," Lana said. "I've always heard traffic in LA was terrible. I can't imagine public transit is any better."

[cantgetnorelief]

"Yeah, I don't think I'd want to drive in it," Anders admitted. "'course, not like I have a license so it's sort of beside the point, huh? More than happy to let the pros do it for me."

[lovelylana]

"I don't mind driving, but I don't exactly have the funds for a car," Lana admitted. "But practically everything I need is easy to get to."

"Yeah, I can't afford one either," Anders said sheepishly. "Which was okay in Neptune, but now that we're here it's a little more of a problem. You know the subway here goes, like, nowhere?"

[lovelylana]

"No," Lana said. "I was only there once for a Christmas party Angel had. Never used the subway."

[cantgetnorelief]

"Yeah, you probably wouldn't have needed to anyway," Anders told her. "Unless you wanna see the Walk of Fame or go downtown or to Universal Studios, it won't really get you anywhere and you can tell my player has a huge gripe about this. I gotta take that to a train line to a bus to get to school. I know, I know, Bel could shimmer me but I don't wanna be all dependent."
