Yeah, I was going to say that, too. I have more than one close friend that is fighting to stay sober currently, and getting some support in staying strong does *not* make you a fuck-up. According to my friends, the Olympia meetings are full of pretty awesome people.
I don't know that I really need or want or have time to go to meetings, but drinking is something of an issue for me, too. I don't have a super lot of trouble just choosing not to drink, but I do have trouble stopping if I do have one drink, and that's a bad sign. And most certainly when I do drink, my life is just shitty. I make poor decisions, I fuck things up, I get depressed, and I treat people like crap. Anyway, point is, you are NOT alone in having issues with drinking. There are plenty of awesome, successful, young folk who have these problems, too.
I am almost definitely going to start going to Alanon meetings, in hopes of getting some help setting boundaries with one of my friends whose ongoing alcoholism has come close to ruining my life.
