One year

I realized my one year anniversary on LJ had gone by without comment. In fact a whole bunch of stuff has gone by without comment and that seemed to deserve, well… a comment. Since we got back from Italy, I’ve had very little urge to post to my LJ. One reason is time. November and December of last year were two of the busiest months of my life. Everything needed to be focused on the trip and then the recovery from the trip.

The other reason has to do with HP fandom. I found out about LJ through the fandom and most of my excitement about posting had to do with exploring the HP world. Upon reaching year’s end I realized that the fandom no longer holds me in its power the way it did. It’s like coming back to school after summer vacation and finding out that the boy who used to make your heart go pitter-pat no longer does so. Also true is the fact that I could no longer justify all the time I was spending in front of the computer. Important things in my personal and family life were getting short-shrift and it needed to stop.

I still have great admiration for the authors and artists that I have met in the fandom (some of whom are on my f-list). You are doing some brilliant work- with originality that I could never hope to match. I do plan to check in from time to time (you won’t mind, right?) and I really, really want to read the end of valis2’s tLS. But along with that, I’ll be poking around the LJ community to see what else there is to see. Anybody like to knit?
