Seriously Torchwood? SERIOUSLY?

We keep REX? And not even just for now, but for keeps? Why not Ester? Who came so beautifully into her own? Or hell, what about about Vera, who was so fucking competent and amazing. Do you remember how mad I was when you killed her off? How I refused to believe it all week until episode six sealed the deal? And of the three protagonists you introduce in this season, you kept Manpain himself?

Oh Torchwood. And there was something last week, too, that made me throw my hands up in the air over your continued poor depiction of queer women.

POLITICS ASIDE. I quite enjoyed the finale. Lots of neat twists and turns and I thought that what the show chose to do with Oswald's last few moments was fascinating. Rhys was aces (when he is not?) and even PC Andy has a really lovely moment too.

I called ages and ages ago that Jack would die and in doing so, come back to life and please assume the usual squeaks of delight for Gwen being awesome. (Hi, Gwen in that black dress? UNF.) Also pleased that Gilly survived. Off to the AO3 to find ALL OF THE JILLY FEMMESLASH. Okay fandom, I get that you don't owe me squat, but between the fandom newsletter and the AO3, I've found precisely one (one!) fanwork she's tagged in and that was an ensemble piece. Flisters actually in the TW fandom - is she widely hated or something?

Digression aside, I'd like to close with a slow clap for John Delancie, who never fails to entertain. I'll be in mourning for Vera and Esther if you're so inclined to join me.
