Spoilers for SPN 6x16

OKAY SO LOOK, SHOW.

Sam's endlessly earnest faces made me flail a lot and the SamnDean moments (Sam/Dean, for [Bad username or site: fishpatrol @ livejournal] were endlessly endearing.

I kind of liked the electrocutions, without really being able to explain why.

Also, I know that Samuel brought it up to be a manipulative SOB, but my question in difficult situations will now be: WWMD?

What Would Mary Do?

I was a bit shocked at how matter-of-factly Gwen was killed off (aside from my own personal investment in all things minor character and female, how much have the creative team really done to make me care that she existed?) but didn't really get angry until I saw the five men gathered together, trying to figure out what to do next. Then it was all set to low simmer and it's not all guys all the time on my screen, but I'm tired and I'm frustrated, even though I knew exactly what I was getting in for when I signed on for this show. I KNEW that. It's why I didn't start watching until the hiatus between seasons four and five.

I knew Rufus' death was coming and that's still pffffft, thanks show, for using Rufus as a plot device for Bobby in his final episode and removing yet another character of colour from the mix (and we know, we know that Raphael's death is coming and that it'll mean death for his current host, BAMF as she is). I've been saying all along that I wish they'd brought back Tamara instead (I actually do like Rufus, but can I get a hell yeah for Tamara?), but after this week, I'm thinking it's really just as well she wasn't brought back.

In my head, Tamara and Cassie hooked up when Cassie started leaving deliberate clues for hunters in her writing and Tamara showed up to say "Hey, I see what you did there. I don't know what you think you know little girl, but you're going to tell me and then I'm going to go figure out if I need to kill it." SOMEHOW A FRIENDSHIP IS FORMED AND THEY GO ON TO FIGHT CRIME. AND CASSIE DOESN'T HAVE TO GIVE UP HER LIFE TO DO IT. AND MAGICALLY, HENRIKSEN ISN'T DEAD AND FIGHTS CRIME WITH THEM. ALSO, MAGGIE FROM THE GHOSTFACERS CAN GUEST FROM TIME TO TIME.

I'm finding it difficult to work up a good rage, which is just as well. My spoons are a limited resource right now.

Also, because I really want to say it, but I can't particularly bring myself to care about Balthazar. And excepting 5x10, I didn't love Crowley either, but we've already covered that ground. My unpopular opinions, let me show you them. (Rock on if either or both floats your boat. Mileage is always going to vary! I just seem to be posting tired and cranky.)

I'm still looking forward to [casting spoiler] (you know, the one relating to Castiel), because even if show disappoints, I can make whatever I want of it. It's what I do anyway.

But it's nice to have shows and fandoms where I have to work a little bit less hard at it, sometimes.
