1. Booked the hotel for Wincon. *flails a bit helplessly* This thing just got REAL. Exciting, but also a bit terrifying? Currently thinking about fridge rentals and looking up interesting things to do in Chicago on the Monday. And I may be cosplaying Amy Pond?

2. I really like this post by

I'm not sure whether it says something about SPN fandom or just my awareness of it... but it took me a moment to realize "Cassie" was not, in fact, a sex swapped Castiel. :p

It says things about both. Cassie is an incredibly infrequently written character :/

Also, LOL. One of my flisters frequently and loudly voices her opinion that Gina Torres would make an awesome Castiel. (I totally agree.)

And sex swap seems to be popular in that fandom for some reason.

Heh, there is very little she wouldn't be awesome as.

Uh, because it's awesome? There was actually a really interesting Big Bang fic this year which took the trope and played with it, taking an always-a-woman-Deanna and making her a man. The story didn't pull any punches about what that would mean in the sort of working class hunting world and it made for really interesting reading.

It's been a while since I've tried to watch Cleo 2010, but I can only hope that she pulled the quality of the show up.

Ooh, that sounds a lot better than the usual "I'm making one of them a girl because slash is icky" stuff. :p

I haven't seen that one. I'm not sure I want to. :p

Actually, that's pretty much never the case in the SPN (livejournal) fandom. I don't read a lot of Dean/Cas, but I figure the folks writing Wincest aren't really bothered by slash and the femmeslashers take lots and lots of advantage too (girl!Dean/Jo and girl!Sam/Jess are especially popular). It's hands-down the kinkiest fandom I've ever been in and the sexswap is almost always being done to meet a kink, explicitly sexual or not.
