With Amplificathon 2013 gearing up,
jinjurly has posted an
update from the audiofic archive.
Amongst other things, she talks about some statistical and observed data about the top represented pairings (most notably and unsurprisingly, they're all white man/white man), including this:
- okay, this isn't actually a fact, but wouldn't it be awesome if we could get even one lady and/or poc into the top relationships? with actual substantial works? amplificathon is about getting diversity into the audiofic archive, after all. :)
My brain immediately jumped to CHALLENGE ACCEPTED mode and I spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening scanning the archive's pairing tags. (There were minute-to-minute reactions on my Twitter account.)
Here are the results, bearing in mind I may have missed or otherwise mistakenly interpreted the identity of characters of colour, particularly if their names were white-passing and they were from fandoms I don't know. Please do draw my attention to any mistakes or omissions!
ETA: Edited to add in numbers for relevant Pete Wentz pairings and Spock/Uhura.
ETA TNG: List now with more Allison/Scott!
ETA DS9: Brendon Urie pairings added.

- The vast majority of the MOC represented here are white-passing.

Disclaimer for this section: It's impossible to tell at a glance how many of these pairings are side pairings in their associated entries. However, it's likely that the vast majority of the representations of some, like Gwen/Lancelot, Gwen/Arthur, John/Mary, and to a certain extent, even Gwen/Morgana, are not actually the focus of the stories in which they appear.
Observations:
- Threesomes! Twice represented, unsurprisingly coming from Leverage fandom and White Collar fandom.
- I'm also delighted and unsurprised to see Dean Winchester/OFC on this list (Dean/OMC had 26 entries, but wasn't included in the m/m list because most of the those OMC are likely to be white).
-Superfandom Merlin's Gwen/Morgana tops the list, but femmeslash is better represented than I'd have guessed. Also, Gabrielle/Xena's 14 may be a more complicated number than it appears, since several of the entries under that pairing are archival podcasts of sometimes multiple stories.
