It's been a rough week. My energy levels have been particularly low (and worse yet, consistently so) and the pain's been higher than normal, although still manageable. All of that conspires to create a pretty demoralising effect! I've spent a lot of time on the phone with my family, especially my mother, and it's been indescribably wonderful to have their steady, endless support and love. I also wrote my first and last exam last night (most of it sprawled on a mat on the floor and thank goodness I had that option, or I never would have managed it), which will probably land me a B or B+. I'M TOTALLY FINE WITH THAT.
In the meantime, I'm settling in for a long haul on this lower energy level, which is probably the result of my trying to lower the dose of my anti-anxiety meds. It makes me really unhappy that I have to deal with this and I don't know why anyone would ever bother prescribing this class an of anti-depressant if this kind of withdrawal isn't uncommon, but the alternative to lowering the meds is even worse and just delays this process, since I don't plan to stay on them forever. So! Onwards and forwards. I've lived like this before and I can certainly do it again. (It's so much easier to cope with if I accept it as a new, if temporary, normal. I can plan for it, account for it, and stop fighting it so damn hard.)
Also, Babylon 5, feelings! Maybe a post! Friend M, always a master of understatement, responded to my reaction to the S2 finale by texting back "Poor G'Kar. He had a bad season."
And now, for some links.
Drop the World - A Morgana Fanvid. Put aside whatever it is you're done and go watch! This thing is tremendous and full of spoilers for series 4, but so, so worth it.
The Torchwood fandom, in a nutshell. I'll be off shipping Vera/Jilly with
xenoamorist, kay? (If Amorist is actually passionate about Vera and I'm actually passionate about Jilly, just because we are, no attitude, does that still make us Torchwood hipsters?)
The Dalai Lama is going to be doing some live webcasts!
More information here. A video, which Caine makes his own cardboard arcade and, basically, totally awesome in his dedication to bringing it to life. This is an actual, functioning, low-tech arcade :)
If Facebook had been created in 1990s,
this is probably what it would have looked like.
