THE PEOPLE HERE DRIVE LIKE MANIACS!!!

GUESS WHAT?
I'm in England right now, en route to Bordeaux.

Waking up at midnight our time to go through customs, passport control, andallthatjazz  by myself was an experience, but when I finished, I bought a Cadbury Milk and Nut chocolate bar, and it made things much nicer. Mmmmm.... we should have Cadbury at home.

It is beautiful here. There are rollling hills covered in lolling grass and swaying trees.  There is a nice cool breeze that makes the climate just right to sit outside in the garden reading a book and sipping on Elderflower Cordial (sp?).  My room is a cute little nook with a bed and a little window looking out on the picturesque scenery.  The man who owns the bed and breakfast where I am spending the night is a little old man with a very polite manner of speaking that goes perfectly with his accent.

After I settled in here at the bed and breakfast, I went outside to read, then came inside and fell asleep on my bed for 3 or 4 hours. Probably not the best thing to do to get used to the time change, but I was exhausted. I then decided to go for a stoll down the road and admire the beautiful lanscape when I realized that THE PEOPLE HERE DRIVE LIKE MANIACS!!! The roads are tiny, and the cars speed past each other at lightspeed, narrowly avoiding head-on collisions. Not to mention that there is no sidewalk, save about a foot of rough grassy terrain on either side of the road, followd by either a wall/hedge/fence or a steep 2 foot drop with a wall/hedge/fence behind it. After nearly getting hit by a gigantic truck, I decided to walk back. There were fewer cars zooming by on the way back, so I took the oppourtunity to enjoy the view of the green feilds all around me.

ANYWAY, I'm very happy to be here. I'm about to go down to the pub to get some dinner, and hopefully not get run over in the process. I'm thinking fish and chips sans the fish?

Oh, also, E-MAIL ME (callioped@bluebottle.com)!! or comment! I don't care, I just want to keep in touch while I'm gone for the month, so I can tell you guys what's going on, and also here how everything is with all of you!!

Lots of love from England,
Calliope
