[NANA] Five things Shin would want for Christmas

He knows the cigarettes will kill him one day, but Shin can't help craving them. He's been addicted to them far too long to try and quit now. It's an old habit - inhale, exhale - and it never fails to calm him down. His hands unconsciously mimic the action of holding the stick and yet Shin finds himself without any cigarettes at all because of Nana's new rule. Maybe Yasu will take pity on him.

Hachi never fails to make Shin smile. She's so bright and cheerful and caring. She smothers him with compliments and hugs and Shin knows the child growing within her is lucky. He wants to spend as much time with her as he can before the baby comes. He never was very good at sharing.

Shin studies the other members of the band as they relax. They are an odd group, and yet they all work so well together. He knows he is lucky to have found them and Shin can't help but hope the good times will last.

Sometimes he stares at the phone without realizing it. Waiting for that certain name to pop on the screen. A text message, a voice mail, anything from that person. Shin knows he is partially at fault for the sudden silence, yelling at her the way he did, but he wonders why she gave up so easily.
