Isshin kicked Ichigo into the wall, sighing in disappointment. “Losing in front of such a beautiful lady? Shame, Ichigo!” Turning to Rukia, Isshin smiled brightly, “And what does my new daughter think? Is she proud of daddy?”
Rukia beamed, “His defense was sloppy.” Isshin tilted his head to the side, listening with rapt attention as Rukia began to critique nearly every aspect of Ichigo’s moment of distraction.
Ichigo picked himself off the floor and cursed under his breath. The last thing he needed was Rukia egging his father on. Ichigo didn’t even want to know what the two of them could plot when left alone together.

It was not surprising to find Rukia sitting on a tree branch in the middle of the afternoon. Ichigo was barely even fazed the first time it had happened. He just brushed it off as one of those ‘girly things’ he would never understand.
Coming home to see his father perched on the tree branch next to Rukia was an entirely different matter. Isshin happily waved to his family, urging them to join him. Karin looked at Ichigo and he just shrugged, walking into the house without a second thought. She followed a moment later, leaving Yuzu alone with a pouting Isshin and an oblivious Rukia.
