There were two choices since the beginning. There was you and there was him.
He painted pictures of love onto a canvas, slow and careful, spending countless of days on a single masterpiece. He colored the earth with brilliance, lighting up every dark corner with shades of reds and yellows. He was my first love, caring and sweet, living on a different world, one of passion and love. He was always there to be my gentle fire, to listen to what I had to say and to give me comfort- but I fell in love with someone else.
You, being the risk taker, one who didn’t have a care for the world, wild and free, constantly running at the speed of a falling star, seemed so out of reach. I fell in love with your beauty and your soul. You conjured the stars and scattered them across the night sky; you carried wishes in your pockets and blew them into the air, golden sparks flying every which way. You were a magician, and always disappeared behind curtains and trap doors, sheltering yourself away from everyone else.
I needed you, but, like an untamed animal, you’re free, blond hair flying in the wind, running past the horizons. I could only watch from a distance as you dance with the stars and sing with the birds. I could only long to be with you and live in the world that you do.
