Steph Dion replaced by Ujjal Dosanjh?

Ujjal Singh Dosanjh has all the qualifications to be the next leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Experience as a Provincial Minister of Government Services, Minister of Multiculturalism, Human Rights and Sports, Attorney General and finally Premier. Under the federal Liberals he held Minister of Health, National Defence Critic, and Foreign Affairs critic.

The (Georgia) Straight suggests the other NDP Premier turned Liberal MP Bob Rae is the front runner, while American Right Winger turned Liberal MP Michael Ignatieff has nearly as much support.

But Ujjal has Liberal street cred coming out his... He first served as an MLA under Mike Harcourt who resigned under scandal. Granted Bingo-gate was just about skimming charity money. And dine and dashing because MLA's don't pay for dinner on the ferry.

But then Ujjal got to serve under Glen Clark who... (now get this) resigned under scandal (sensing a pattern here?)

But then Ujjal got to be Premier himself and did not (after all) resign under scandal. In fact he served his entire 15month term without scandal. He resigned only when he lost his own seat.

Ujjal stayed out of politics until 2004 when Paul Martin appointed him as a Vancouver Liberal candidate. Oddly enough, the Liberal Party was facing some sort of scandal at the time called Adscam. Martin did not resign under scandal in 2006, but he may as well have.

Now Ujjal has been serving in the opposition under Dion. Dion is not about to resign under scandal but it's funny all the same.

How long until the Liberal Leadership Convention? No doubt the scandal that follows Ujjal around (like the cloud above Dustbin in the Peanuts comics) still has time to surface.
