Recently it's been my impression that the level of discourse in this group has deteriorated badly in terms of i) the presence of personal attacks and generally hateful comments and (ii) the quality of arguments.
I won't pretend that my contributions are always the very model of participation in civilized debate, so I'm not pointing fingers, but this has been, to my mind, a place where we've been able to have relatively, relative to the rest of the internet, intelligent discussions without requiring a lot of moderator policing and I think it would be nice if we could keep it that way. Can we try harder not to be stupid and/or mean?
