http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/10/01/hillier-afghanistan.html I remember hearing about this on am 640 yesterday:
When troops are wounded or killed in Afghanistan, Hillier said, he wants replacements to arrive in Kandahar more quickly than the current 21 to 30 days, and also wants to shift troops destined from armour and other trades into infantry.
He said he wants frontline soldiers to do only one dangerous tour in Afghanistan over the next 2½ years, but admitted that may not be possible with shortages in a number of military trades.
Also, does anyone remember and have a link to an article about an incident...about a week back, where an armor vehicle was attacked but nobody died? I'm of the opinion that up-to-date equipment and adequate armor does save lives, and when we underfund the military to the point where they 'can't afford it', their blood will be on our hands.
