I know of two "open letters" by Canadian Catholic bishops in the last week, on same-sex marriage.
Bishop Fred Henry of Calgary demonstrates his usual stupidity and logical gymnastics (Gay marriage causes swingers clubs!?!)
Archbishop Terrence Prendergast of Halifax is more restrained, but still providing misinformation (this wasn't studied or debated!?! I seem to recall a dozen court cases, two Parliamentary hearings (one with 500 witnesses), full days of Parliamentary debate, and about 6,000,000 editorials ...)
I'm thinking this is part of some co-ordinated effort, probably related to the Pope's latest hurrah on the issue. Has anyone seen anything similar in your community?
