Compared to other Nations (US, Britian...) is Canada doing enough to get our citizens out of Lebanon. Should Canada even be doing this for its citizens? Does any one know if the Government has a legal/constitutional obligation to protect it's citizens outside the country, or is it more of a moral\traditional obligation?
http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national/story.html?id=e6586792-fd0a-4518-9be1-2587954a9172&k=46784 I personally think we do have a responsiblity(still unsure about the legal/constitutional though), but I do not think that at the current time we have the capability to respond quickly(as show by the current situation) Hopefully, in a few years, if we have to evacuate Canadians from an area like this we can use our new C-17's.
