They do seem to 'accidentally' bomb Italians, reporters, hospitals, and now Canadians way too often.

Unlike many of the "accidents" that have happened in Iraq, this one does sound plausible. Granted, the American occupiers can get trigger-happy, but in this case, nobody got hurt and the error was resolved quickly. That speaks more to American incompetence than malfeasance, IMO. We'll see.

However, I'm kind of curious why the Canadian envoys are there in the first place. What is our current relationship with the government of Iraq?

Its cuz everyones trigger happy and they ened to be escorted by it in bullet proof cars and stay in green zones or else they run the risk of getting shot
...just ignore the fact that they were in a green zone...

So? Incompetence is nothing to be proud of. And incompetence people should not carry assult riffles.
Im not surprised we have an envoy there, its a US colony, we want good relations with the US don't we? they have all the money.

If someone tries to hit your moped with their car it's a lot different from them accidentally hitting your moped while talking on their cellphone. Doesn't mean they're not a complete asshole either way, but there is a clear difference in intent.

Agreed about Iraq being a US colony. The government of Iraq has little sovereignty while it is being occupied by the US, so I kind of wonder who it is we are negotiating with. They might be there in regards to the Christian Peace hostages though. I really don't know, hence my question.

Heh. You pick up some interesting nuances when you read reports from both the Canadian and American media on stories like these.

Opener from the CBC article:

There are reports that a Canadian consular vehicle came under fire from U.S. troops in Baghdad on Tuesday.

Opener from the American article:

U.S. forces in Baghdad accidentally shot at the car of the Canadian ambassador to Iraq, John Holmes, but no one was injured, a State Department official said.

It almost sounds apologetic, doesn't it? Like, "I'm sorry I ACCIDENTALLY wrecked the car, but at least no one got hurt, right?"

Yeah, you SHOULD feel bad, ya trigger-happy bastards. :P

I just love that our ambassador in Iraq is named John Holmes.

Next film? Ambassador to Your Rack.
