I think people will never be socially progressive...

Hello, I'm a newbie here, and I follow all elections like a good little nerd. I generally don't think that same sex marriages should even be an issue, as it really doesn't hurt anyone or bring down the moral fiber of the community. Blah blah.

I'm voting NDP this time around, hoping that a more left representation in the House of Commons might bring moderation if the Conservatives get elected into a minority government (Liberals too, though I'd rather much seee the Liberals with a majority, myself). I don't think that the NDP representative in my riding (St. Catharines) has a hope in heck, though.

Especially after people steal and deface his campaign signs because of his sexual orientation. I see this happening, and I see numerous big blue signs popping up all over people's front lawns, and I feel sort of sad that it's possible that the Dubya-luvving, socially regressive, Judeo-Christianity over-all Conservatives might be elected into government.

The reason I'm not voting Liberals this time: I wrote a letter to the incumbent MP, Walt Lastewka last year asking him not to pursue his objection to the same sex marriage clause in Ottawa. Walt wrote me back stating that he's all about 'traditional marriages'. That's part of it... but in the end, I don't feel he's done that much in my riding either. I think the Niagara region's natural ecology is being threatened and I don't feel enough is done to protect it. I mean, look at Niagara Falls now, for example: hotels along the escarpment up the wazoo.

I'm such a tree huggin' hippy.
