I just read that a recent Decima poll showed 43 per cent of Canadians surveyed could be induced to vote for the Green Party of Canada under some circumstances. Since the Green Party probably would not poll more than one percent outside of British Columbia if an election were held today, I wonder what kind of bizarre and unlikely circumstances the resondents were imagining? Really, I wonder how flexible Canadians are in their politics: would I, for example, consider voting for the Kinky Sex Party, given the right circumstances? I suppose so, if those circumstances involved being AT a Kinky Sex Party the day of the election, but it's not a possibility I want to dwell on. Anyway, I suspect that many Canadians today are not very committed to any particular party, and don't make their decisions until they approach the ballot box on voting day, or in the case of my mother, seconds after they leave the ballot box. "Wait, no, wait, I take it back!"
Well here's a chance to see how politically flexible we are in this community, or, alternatively, how committed and principled we are. Take your pick...
