I got Inferno a few days ago... I'm largely a lot happier with it than I was with Sacrifice. I sped through it. :D
Happy: Luke and Ben beat the crap out of His Sithliness (who is finally starting to act like a Sith lord, thank Force). I could feel Luke just completely loosing it during the book (cultivating when he saw Jacen torturing Ben), but yet... he was still Luke. I was really happy with his characterization. Except the bit where he still doesn't get that Jacen killed Mara. Dude. He was using the embrace of pain on his uncle's barely teenaged son. He had just fucking set a planet on fire. When said teenaged son says that he thinks that the evil bastard killed his aunt, I think that listening to him might be good.
-There were evil people! Yah! :p No, really. Some good old fashioned "Holy tomatoes, he's scary" isn't so bad every once and awhile. :p
-Tenel Ka! Sweetie, you just signed your own death warrant. But I love you for standing up to the bastard. Take your kid and run, please. I really don't want anything to happen to her. But. Well. At least she has lost the Padme-esque hand-wringing. :p
-Everything went to hell in this book. Finally? They spent so much time setting up... this last cycle of books ought to be good, no?
Not so much: Luke? Jacen killed Mara. Yes, he did. Listen to your son... he's smarter than you when he isn't being a moron. Which is... okay, often. :p
-Erm. Why is it that Jaina is yet again shoved into the background? I have a weird feeling that they are going to yank her out of left field in the eleventh hour and it might just be too late for that to work. Why is it that every other member of her family is part of the major action and she and her harem are is relegated to chasing Alema around the galaxy? I'm sure there are far more interesting occupations for them.
Another thing? She should realize that telling two feuding guys that she isn't interested yet still hanging around them is just a really bad idea. :p
