Steward...

Feb 13, 2003 15:51

I have been named Steward of Gondor by my brother, who is currently too incapacitated to do the job. In my duty, I shall keep watch over Gondor and Minas Tirith until the King returns from his Quest.

My lady, please do not view this as an intrusion of your powers, but merely as an assistance. However, should I find your actions unruly and not for ( Read more... )

Lord Boromir, may I have a word with you?

You might, Miss. Nods.

May I ask what that is?

This is concerning one of the prisioners that you're holding now... The Haradrim girl you captured yesterday. What are your plans for her?

He frowns lightly in thought. I did not have any plans, actually, for I know very little of the situation. Did you wish her released? He pauses a moment, and then nods to Lúthien. I shall have to find out more, though, before I am able to do anything.

*nods* Yes, release of a form. I know that many people might not feel comfortable with her presence, but if you would be willing to do so, my request is that you release her into my custody. I would be her "guardian" of sorts, and claim full responsibility for her actions. I know this may seem like a great deal to ask, but I would be willing to pay the consequences for any harm or damage she might cause. Please do all you can, sir.

The prisoner is one of the desert people from the South-- I know their customs, and I speak her language. I will be more than happy to share Luthien's responsibility in this matter.

He ponders a moment. They are both willing to take responsibility...

I should like to give you approval, but I do not know much of this Southron. What was her mission here? Who is she? He peeks an eyebrow up.

It is a misunderstanding!

Boromir, this is not what it looks like at all! You must understand!

He peers at Beruthiel, and shakes his head. From what I have heard as it was, the Southron was after my brother. What assurance do I have that she would not do such again? He runs a hand through his hair while he awaits an answer.

We have her word. Her people do NOT break their word.

She is not a criminal, Boromir. Her brothers were killed on the battlefield. The customs of her people require vengeance in the absence of other compenation or formal apology. It is entirely a matter of honor.

I know her people and I know their customs-- and I know that blood vengeance does not have to be the end result. There are ways around this. You must let me work with her and find a solution.

The bottom line is that Faramir is alive. But she will never see her brothers again. Do you have no pity for her?

Please Boromir, have mercy. You know the way you felt when you thought Faramir was dead. This girl watched her brothers die at Faramir's hand. Can you not understand her grief? Yes, it was wartime and desparate measures were required, but that does not negate the pain of losing the people that you love.

Have compassion. We trust that she will not attempt to harm any others here, and we have already promised to take responsibility for her actions if she did try.

He remains silent for a long while, and then shakes his head in mild disgust. Very well, you two are now responsible for the Southron. However, I will be keeping my eye on her as well, and should she do anything even remotely like she had attempted to do, she will be imprisoned, until a proper consequence for her actions can be decided.

Grabbing the paper with your signature and seal, and making a mad dash for the prison tower.

You won't regret this! We promise!!!

I bloody well hope not! Watches Beruthiel run off, and shakes his head again.
