So...I need to change my icons from Christmas to something more appropos to the weather. It's actually very nice, though I've heard that we are in for a little more rain.

Cheer is going quite well. The team I help coach has won two competitions in a row at the intermediate level: one "nationals" and a Northern Ca. championships (against six other teams) and so they are quite happy. I'm happy for them, I just wish we'd work on harder things at practice, too.

We head to San Diego next week, which will be nice, because it will be one mini-vacation this year. I have pretty good hopes for NYC, which I damn well better go, because I am pissed at myself for not getting to London to see Equus. So I had just better do it now that it's over here.

I have six and a half more days of school before I track off for the month of March. We've started Ruth Miller training, which is meant to help us reach the targets that we hadn't reached, which means we are slowly moving towards the state having to come in and tell us what to do -- and so we've picked this up as a way to NOT go that route.

Problem is, it requires a lot LOT LOT of work on our part. I see the good it will do, and I will do it, but it is a lot of work. Lots of planning and evaluating and looking up standards and writing them down next to everything I teach and then we're supposed to write the standards on the board so the kids can read them. I don't quite get how that will help, when I have to think hard on what each standard means.

It just takes a long time, at any rate. I was there six hours last weekend, three today, and I'm going back tomorrow to finish up. It's been easy these past two weeks, because we've had the Monday holidays. But I don't know that I'll have six hours every weekend to commit to being at school. Maybe it'll get easier.

No men, unfortunately. But, I am 136 today, which is good. I've been doing a couple classes at 24 Hour Fitness once or twice a week, plus a couple of 20 minute jogs on the treadmill.

And I also saw the report on how bad diet sodas are. Bleh. They were my one free thing, and now they're bad. As in one a day is even bad.

But until last Tuesday, I was the four-to-five-a-day drinker. Since Tuesday, I've limited myself to one a day. I'd love to stop cold turkey, but I can't. I'm pretty proud of myself that I've done it for almost six days now. I am, though, looking into Splenda, because I think that is a natural sweetener and not artificial. If it is, then HELLO to Diet Coke with Splenda. ;)
