Gone shootin'
Today was a lot of fun (except for the waking up at 6:30 after going to bed at 3), cuz I got to go shooting! pvlgize graciously picked me up at said laothesome hour and we trundled over to pick up reviresco and then wind our way south to the San Diego area. We drove to no_brakes23 and ladyazure's pad where we loaded up on his guns and drove to the shooting range.
Oh yeah, prior to that we (the original three) stopped at a little "scenic vista" or something like that where reviresco said there were friendly squirrels. Lo and behold, she was correct! There were tons of squirrels (and seagulls) that would come scampering up to take food (in our case some thoughtfully packed stale hotdog buns) right from your hand. After being mocked by pvlgize about my worries of rabies I got into the spirit of tossing bread to the chubby little fellows and watch them try to grab it and run before the gull swooped in and stole it. Hilarity ensued. Until the enormous oxen-sized squirrels attacked us...
After we defeated the marauding sqirrelasaurs pvlgize developed a fun game where she would pile bread (well, I added to the pile) between her feet and then see if the gulls would be ballsy enough to come in and grab it before she punted them... she would back up and they would all rush in and then she'd step back up and they'd all flap about squawking angrily... it was most amusing, and can be viewed below
After that we actually went shooting, which was a lot of fun!
All of us (except no_brakes23) practically shattered out shoulders firing a 12 gauge shotgun with a slug load, as well as firing a whole bunch of other cool guns (mostly rifles, but also no_brake23's 1911 Colt which is really sweet to fire)
Thanks again to no_brakes23 for graciously allowing us to fire off all his ammunition. :)
