[OPEN LOG] playing hookey from class

Dec 18, 2009 13:28

Craig Emo is currently doing his best to not pay attention to the warning bells or students rushing around to get to their next class. Lunch had been boring but class is even more boring, so by the time the tardy bell rings, he's worked his way out to the front doors. Hell no, he isn't staying for class. That shit is for pussies.

Veronica had just been minding her own business and going to class, but the direction Emo was walking in caught her attention. She turned and followed him inconspicuously, failing to resist her usual urge to be nosy and poke around in other people's business. Yep, he was definitely leaving. Time to find out why!

She waited until he was out the door so she could lean against the doorframe with her arms crossed dramatically.

"Hey! Getting an early start on our date? I think my Dad's going to get suspicious if you loiter around our front door for that many hours."

Emo was minding his own business, intending on going around back and probably beat up any loitering freshmen or tagging something. When he heard Veronica's voice, though, he stopped and turned to look at her.

"Nah, girl. I may be determined, but I ain't creepy stalker determined."

She shrugged a little, and took a couple steps closer. "You can never be too sure. " And that's why she had a taser. "But really. Where are you going? Because I'm pretty sure class is that way." She pointed back towards the doors. "You're not seriously going to ditch... whatever class it is you have now, are you?"

His mask grinned for him. "I don't have time for class. It's boring and this school doesn't really teach you anything anyway." He tilted his head away from the doors, "I'm gonna go chill out for a bit. Big lunch, gotta take a nap or something."

She smiled and shook her head. Oh, delinquents. "You just ate lunch, and I'm pretty sure napping is why classes were invented. They're one of my favorite places to catch z's, personally."

"I need the open air. Besides, last time I tried to go to class, some asshole set off dyed sprinklers." He shook his head. "I don't need none of that."

He gestured. "You gonna stand around or skip with me?"

She frowned deeply. "Seriously? Why would someone do that? And why do we even have dyed sprinklers?"

At Emo's question, she tapped her finger against her lips, weighing the options. "Well, if you're just going to lunch and nap, I think I'll pass. I only skip for things that are worthy of skipping for. Like a sale at Unicornicopia~"

"Some asshole got dye in the pipes. IDK how." He... blinked. "...Okay, I really don't know WF Unicornicopia is but it's got 'unicorn' in the name so I'm pretty sure it's a good thing I don't."

A part of Veronica was morbidly curious about how out there she could act before she scared Emo away. That was her way of dealing with most people she wasn't working on a case for. ... And people she was working on a case for, more often than not. "Emo," she attempted to put her arm around his shoulders (which was kind of funny considering the height difference), "girls love unicorns. How can you not? They're like ponies but magical."

"...Right." He wasn't really digging this idea of... unicorns. "That sucks, 'cos I'm definitely more of a dinosaur kinda person, not so much into the magical pony bullshit."

She nodded sagely. "Dinosaurs are also great. One day, I'd like to travel back in time and get my own pterodactyl."

"But seriously." She let go of him. "You are probably the most boring juvenile delinquent I know. You're going to go home and take a nap?"

"Grab me a raptor, those things are pretty fucking badass."

Hey! He was not boring! He was just... really lazy. "I don't go home for stupid shit like that, I'm gonna go chill out back and-" Well, he did have a PDF file on his Blackberry that he kinda wanted to read, "-IDK. Why do I gotta do something interesting?"

Veronica takes jabs out of love, okay? ~Out of love.~ She shrugged. "I just expected you to have walls to graffiti or tires to slash or something. -- Not that I'm promoting crime! Because I'm not." She actually sounded serious at that.

"I got bored of all that months ago." Well, he did have a can of spray paint in his backpack - who didn't, nowadays? - but he wasn't planning on using it around a girl who had that tone of voice. "I got something I want to -" Don't say read, "- Get out of, is all. Excalibur's class. He might be done with the five hour lecture but I'm pretty sure he's decided to start bitchin' about something else." Honestly, he hadn't been in English for... two weeks. But that was beside the point.

"And now you're on the straight and narrow?" She studied him with an appraising glance. "Except for the whole skipping class thing. Would you say this is a normal thing for you?" So Veronica was a little judgmental. She chose to think of it as getting to know her date.

"LOL." He would have rolled his eyes if he could. "Sure, straight and narrow, except that road's kinda wide in my book and has a lot of really weird detours."

He was looking around now; he felt antsy standing out here so long after the bell. He really did not want detention, since apparently he'd be put in a musical or a play or something and that really wasn't his style. "You want the play-by-play of my juvenile delinquency or something?"
