24-1 6.45pm
It has been a long, painful, tiring and frustrating day. Tons of visitors one after another all afternoon, but no consultant to tell me for sure that I'm going to be here unti; Maia's born, and no social worker to discudd childcare help with. I'd also like to see a physio to see what I can do to reduce heartburn and constipation from sitting all day, avoid DVT, maintain a tiny modicum of fitness etc. I need to know how far I'm allowed to walk without resorting to a wheel-chair.

25-1 4.48am
Moke at usual middle-of-the-night time (fine) only to be kept awake by sound of mop and bucket. Eventually went to ward dorr to see what was going on, in time to see a tall thin white-haired man hurry past with a window squeegee and rectangular bucket. Odd at after 4.30 in the morning...
I'm alone in my room tonight, which is lovely, but using the earplugs anyway. Women in labour can make a lot of noise!
Starting to think of ways to make this space more my own. I want my drawing of me as a monster by Isaac by my bed to make me smile (Done - Sam). I've been thinking about asking for a pair of pretty shoes//slippers so I feel a bit more distinction between day and night - not always slopping around in socks or bare feet. Hey, maybe I could even get one of our pictures to hang over the bed!
I've also been thinking about the food (as anyone reading this blog will know!) Here's a plea to future visitors : I need healthy yummy ordinary food, not junk, please! Fibre! Apricots, grapes cherries etc! Vogels or Burgen bread! Some cheese! Being able to make myself the kind of lunch and snacks I have at home and not rely on ghastly heartburn-inducing sausage rolls and pick squidge would be very nice.
Hot apples, oranges or bananas though. Still have that funny edge to my tastebuds. I need to add here my heartfelt thanks to Polly for the tomato, avocado, sharp knife, chopping board and fruit teas. You have a gift, Polly. They have been SUCH a blessing!
I should probably have a go at getting a bit more sleep. I'm pretty hungry but too much food while lying down's not comfy either. Only a couple of hours till breakfast time...
