PERSONALITY: Itachi, in few words, can be summarized as one, a mysterious walking complex and two, an insanely fucked up individual. He is cold, indifferent and does not easily acknowledge other people. There is something very intimidating about him and he can be seen as condescending, subtly mocking towards those who cannot live up to his extremely high expectations. He has incredible self-control over his emotions and his actions, and it's rare to see his expression to waver the slightest, no matter what the topic or subject is at hand. One may get the impression that Itachi is a sociopath...and it is partly true.
When he was at a young age, he was deeply influenced by Madara and even though Itachi was extremely intelligent, it got to him, badly. Underneath everything, Itachi is a considerate brother, he loves Sasuke, and he loved the whole clan but in the end, he murdered them all. This in itself made Itachi embrace being called a traitor and stick to that title. Despite his calm and controlled demeanor, Itachi is not the embodiment of being reasonable, and the slaughter of his clan proved that very much so. But you know, he isn’t that bad (okay, so killing his whole clan may suggest otherwise) but he is simply not good with people. Why? Because he destroyed everything that he could be even vaguely attached to. Of course, if you manage to talk to him, get his interest, he’ll talk back. He’ll listen, and perhaps engage in conversation. But to form a relationship? -- Why bother.
He is logical, immensely intelligent, and yet he does not feel any empathy. He feels nothing other than detachment from people and almost everything around him, as he already gave up everything to be nothing but Sasuke’s sacrifice; and so he is nothing but selfish and heartless, to expect Sasuke to wake up to that very image of everything he knew be so easily thrown away, and by his own brother, and how can anyone expect their younger brother to proceed a normal life after their family was just brutally massacred? (Of course it could be argued that it was for a good cause)
Nonetheless, Itachi is not a sadist. He does not use his powers for torture, no matter how powerful he is, and gains no pleasure from harming others. He is very much one that wishes for peace after all he had been through and all the shit that he had seen, and yet his desire is contradictory because he is a ruthless killer. He is passive and apathetic, and can even be blunt with his opinions, and he does not wish to waste time on trivial conversation unless it is deemed necessary. Even with the conflict between his irrational thoughts and his desires, Itachi is very much self-aware, and even self-accepting. He knows that he is a traitor and knows that he seems nothing but a monster and a tool.
Still, he accepts it, considering he cannot turn back to his former life and the ability to return to any sort of normality was ripped from him. And so he joined the Akatsuki, purely for his reputation as an S-class criminal.
He wasn’t always like this, however. He wasn’t so cold, such an isolated reclusive and a constant killer. But when you are shoved into a world of carnage at a young age, there is something in your mind that can just never heal -- and even after that, even with the war ending, another one rising was a threat and that in itself provoked Itachi to sacrifice himself and all morals were easily discarded, because once you go down a certain road than there is no going back. And there is no point of lingering with delusional thoughts of what could have been.
The thing about Itachi is that he wants to avoid conflict -- he does not engage in it, but he is not completely obvious too it. Instead he ignores any form of uneasiness and tension and plays himself to be ignorant to them - or even politely ask if such a subject or affair could not be discussed. And even so, he does dismiss such a topic with light sarcasm, which does display his dislike for said topics. However, if he is forced into such a situation then he will eliminate it effectively and only use violence as the last resort.
HISTORY: Itachi -- like most of those that are born in the Uchiha clan -- was a child prodigy. And yet, unlike most of those, Itachi was first covered in bloodshed at the age four. The world was exposed to him in a mass of gore and carnage that he lived through. It was the third great shinobi war that traumatized Itachi. Countless lives were lost among allies and enemies and after that, Itachi became a pacifist.
At the age of 7 he had already graduated from the academy, being the top of the class and already mastering the Sharingan by the age of 8. By the age of 10 he had already became the strongest ninja in the clan next to his father, and yet, Sasuke was craving for the same attention that Itachi himself got. However even if Itachi wanted to train Sasuke, there was a slight manipulation that forced their father to train Sasuke instead, as Itachi had 'Better things to do'. Also Itachi said he would not do the tasks that were meant to be done, and of course, their father obeyed such a thing -- but that did not mean that his attention did not fade from Itachi.
After six month of joining and becoming the captain of the ANBU and the day before the extermination of the Uchiha, Itachi had become the student under Madara Uchiha who had been the clan's founder and had found out about the Sharingan's true power. It was Itachi that caved into gaining the Mangekyou Sharingan, and so he killed his best friend and faux-brother Shisui. It was ruled out to be an apparent suicide but Itachi was still known to be the prime suspect and so when he was being confronted by an investigation team, Itachi openly stated he had killed his friend before killing them with ease.
The reason for such a drastic and merciless act was that Itachi had been manipulated by the Hokage to eliminate the whole of the Uchiha clan. Why? Because it was the Uchiha with their skills and abilities that were far too powerful - a barbaric clan that could wage war with the Leaf-village. And so, if Itachi did not proclaim himself as a traitor and wipe them all out, then there would be war, and Itachi could not let that happen, not when his brother was still alive.
However, when Itachi was confronted by his father, he had apologised and claimed the damage was done -- which forced the father to train Sasuke even harder so the younger brother wouldn't end up like Itachi. A while after, Sasuke had come back home to find the whole clan and his parents brutally murdered by the hands of his brother. It was Itachi who stood over their bodies to claim that he was merely testing his capabilities. And so he declared he had never loved Sasuke and practically admitted he only filled the part to play the older brother when in fact he was purely lying and had no interest in Sasuke, saying that the younger brother was not even worth killing.
Before Itachi left, he had provoked and taunted Sasuke to hate him enough so one day the younger brother could have his revenge and even helped him by telling Sasuke how to gain the Sharingan and its true power. And to live on, to hate Itachi, to let the hate pulse through his veins and to come after Itachi with the clan’s true power.
After massacring the Uchiha clan, Itachi left to join the S-class criminal group filled with missing-nins, called the Akatsuki. He was confronted with Orochimaru who tried in vain to steal Itachi's body but failed, and the aftermath of such an attempt only left with Orochimaru missing a arm and fleeing from the organization. After a few years in being the assassination criminal group, Itachi along with his partner Kisame practically invaded Konoha to find the nine-tailed beast -- Naruto -- but was confronted with Kakashi and Asuma. And even with their combined power and even their own hight ranking as shibonis they both succumbed to exhaustion, leaving the Akatsuki duo to continue their search for Naruto unwillingly.
When they were about to attack Naruto, it was ironic that Sasuke, at the same moment rushed in to take revenge on Itachi, and Itachi with utter ease took care of Sasuke. Itachi muttered his cruel words, condescending and demeaning, shoving them down his little brother’s throat, claiming that he was still weak and could not kill him before shoving him aside like filth only to use the Mangekyou Sharingan against his younger brother. And with the illusions that spun in Sasuke’s head, the Akatsuki duo to be trapped inside of one of Jiraiya's jutsu that transformed the hallway into a toad’s stomach. But nonetheless, both of the Akatsuki members managed to flee.
Several years later there was word that Sasuke was taken to be mentored by Orochimaru. Of course it was something Itachi detested, with Orochimaru being the slimy bastard he was, and yet there was no doubt that Orochimaru would be defeated. And such as it was, that Sasuke did defeat Orochimaru, destroying him. But that did not mean that Itachi would cease his objective in capturing the nine-tails fox. Soon enough the criminal organization was summoned to a meeting in which they were told of Sasuke’s death caused by the self-detonating jutsu that Deidara had conjured up. But Itachi knew that Sasuke was still alive.
Soon enough, and with the sickness that starts to overwhelm Itachi. He summons a shadow clone to confront Naruto, asking numerous questions about his and Sasuke’s relationship. And with the satisfaction of the given answers, Itachi grants some of his power to Naruto, leaving with a soft rare smile before yet another shadow clone is drawn to Sasuke. Their encounter is brief as Itachi directs Sasuke to where he will die, and decides to finish it quickly, and too finish it at the ruins of the Uchiha clan’s hideout.
ABILITIES: Not only is Itachi a missing-nin but also a member of the Akatsuki, an S-class criminal group so he is obviously skilled in basic jutsu. He is a genjutsu master and most of it is by the power of his Sharingan which can copy the opponents jutsu and to use it against them, he is known to be extremely fast with his techniques and obviously a very talented opponent himself. Also because he is of the Uchiha clan he can use a certain attack called Katon which he can breath fire or multiple balls of fire and manipulate them.
He also has the Mangekyou Sharingan which can do the following:
Mangekyou Sharingan/Sharingan - The Sharingan can copy any sort of attack and the user can memorize it. It can memorize ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu almost perfectly. It can also slightly hypnotize the opponent and copy their basic moves, making it almost seem like they can see the future.
Tsukuyomi - One of the attacks that Itachi can do with the Mangekyou Sharingan is the Tsukuyomi, which can make the opponent appear in a illusionary world that the user can control and within seconds in reality Itachi can torture the opponent in days wether it would be brutally physical or mentally. Once said torture is done it is released and the victim suffers a mental breakdown due to the illusion.
Amaterasu - With his right eye he is able to summon the Amaterasu which is a large black flame that is known to burn everything within vision however there is a certain effect where his right eye bleeds due to the mass amount of chakra that is used.
Susano'o - The final attack that is able from the Sharingan is the Susano'o which is a dream-like-illusion that can kill almost anything. It has a sword in one hand with a shield in the other. It is able to reflect all attacks.
Apart from the Sharingan, Itachi can also form shadow clones and make them explode on command which can easily kill those that are near the blast and he is very skilled with long-ranged attacks using kunai and the such with perfect aim. Last but not least. Itachi is fairly intelligent.
