Reflections on Mortality

Jun 28, 2010 22:20

My cat has been put to sleep. She's gone now, but memories linger - in the end... That is what we all become.

The transformation from a physical, tangible, being into a state of æther. The difference between life and death is a wall of what may happen to you yet, and the reflections of what once was.

Nothing more. No grand reward. No epic sounds of horns, heralding the mighty return...

Just the quiet focus of absence that permeates the place where you previously occupied in the lives of others.

Simple. Honest. True.

Death is not the end, as memories linger. It is not the beginning, as there is nothing to follow it - No... Death is the transfer of physical potential, into an inert reflection. Matter turned to energy, as fire consumes the fuel.

nothingness, afterlife, mortality
