Smokers

I've long got over my early-20s visceral reaction to cigarettes and smoke. There was a time when I would get in someone's face about, say, smoking near food. At a certain point, I just stopped caring about giving people a hard time about it, probably because there are all kinds of other pollutions that people are subjecting each other to all the time.

However, lately I've been slightly lamenting the intrusion of cigarette smoke into my personal space..

Here where I normally sit and surf the internet, cigarette smoke often billows in from my neighbors' balconies, yes, the same neighbors who litter the lawn with beer cans....
It usually doesn't last much past the moment when I notice it, so it's not a big deal, but it's kind of gross nonetheless..

What was even worse was yesterday when I went to leave my work. It never bothered me before that the one place they offer to lock bicycles is in the middle of the office smoking area. That is to say, it never bothered me until I went to get on my bike yesterday and somehow there was a layer of ash over the whole thing. I'm not sure how that happened! One person smoking beside the bike couldn't possible have coated the whole thing in a greasy film, could it ? I didn't have anything to clean it with, so I had to bike and keep feeling that grimy feeling on my hands...

gross stuff, annoyances, cigarette smoking, teen arrogance, vancouver, rants, bikes
