Day 12: a BL manga that isn't licensed but SHOULD be Of course I realize (U.S.) licensing benefits various parties and that's swell and all, but for the most part I'm aware of its occurrence only insofar as it uhh interferes with my reading convenience XD; so imma replace this question with another one from Fuuko's extended list.
Day 12: a BL manga you like just for the sex scenes
In a lot of respects Yume Musubi, Koi Musubi by Sakuragi Yaya is pretty dumb, but the sex scenes get thumbs up from me, not because they're especially hot--they're a hodgepodge of cuteness, hotness, awkwardness, and hilarity--but because Ao the uke is a poster boy for enthusiastic consent. Which BL needs more of IN SPADES can I get an amen here. Sakuragi clearly knows she's upending tropes and is playing the results for lulz, but if Ao's unabashed puppyish "YAY SEX ♥ :D" attitude is portrayed as being outside the norm, it's definitely not cast in a negative light--if anything it enhances his adorability. Uke-shaming has been common enough in BL that it's refreshing to read something that instead celebrates blithe unashamedness. Then again I'm always for more blithe unashamedness. Also, a million kudos for the way the partners maintain open (verbal!) communication throughout re: what's working and what's not.
Day 13: a BL manga that you feel embarrassed about liking
Speaking of shame! ahaha the one I always picture the cops finding when they come to arrest me on obscenity charges is
Kawaigatte Kudasai by Hoshino Lily. Also Kamei Yogorouta's stuff like
Tsuki ni Ookami. At some point I should try to properly unpack my position on fantasy shota, but an unlocked post is perhaps not the safest place.
