A self-imposed challenge: ralph up at least 1000 words on one of the NYR prompts in one day. Basic training for Yuletide, as it were. Mission accomplished, although this is isn't a fic so much as a scene, or an extended ficbit really.

Tenika D. (aka dashre?) requested "something featuring Keiki," with option of "exploring his relationship with Youko ( ( Read more... )

She was forever unsettling him. The uncanny thing was that she settled him, too.

Ahh, your stories make me interested in learning about all of these characters. ♥

Has anyone ever written a Keiki-in-heat fic? What would that be like?

Wait oh my gosh have you not read/watched Twelve Kingdoms? ...Since you commented on ye olde GyouTai pr0n I always just assumed...! ._.

Keiki-in-heat fic? What would that be like?

LOLARITY ahaha there were several kirin-in-heat in the last riboku challenge, but I can't remember whether Keiki was one of them. ...I think it would take some doing to make it happen in a way that wasn't A.) horrible for him, B.) pure lulz at his expense, or both.

Ahaha, no, everything I learned about this fandom I learned from you. I hope that's not a bad thing! It does seem like a quality canon, worth checking out if I can get my hands on the anime at some point. The j-novels I trust myself with less, since I'm not sure whether I could maintain a steady pace of reading without BL as incentive (not that I like gen narratives any less than romance -- it's just easier to read in Japanese when I've convinced myself there's a kiss waiting for me on the next page).

. . . Horrible for him isn't bad, necessarily. I mean, obviously one would want to avoid anything that skirted dubcon, but there might be certain happy surprises that he can only experience when he's forcibly evicted from his comfort zone.

Not a bad thing! I meant to say this when you commented on the DSRK fic but it's such a compliment that you read my stuff even without knowing the source material. Obvs I do recommend both the novels and the anime--even the English novel translations on or offline are worth reading, I'd say. Or if you read French, I hear they're out in French. Know what you mean about makeouts as reward for progress, though. XD ( ... )

This is why reading fic without knowing the source material is dangerous, because I didn't even know about Kei's previous ruler. Wikipedia has since informed me. XD;; Yeah, wow, that absolutely puts the importance of not rushing things in perspective. Youko had best let him take his leave to the cloistered gardens of wherever, to suffer these trials in piece (which is itself kind of a touching gesture).

I can't read French, unfortunately! But we'll see what I can do about one of these other versions, sometime. I'll brace myself for the grim cliffhanger at the end and plunge in anyway.

oh well~ then you mislead us! You posted under the kirin-in-heat, so I just assumed. ^^

Really though, I rather liked the idea-- all the other kirin go nuts in heat, but Keiki still manages to be prissy about it! XD 'Course, with Youko experimenting the way she was, even someone non-Keiki might get prissy~ lol

B-but I didn't! (Granted I am highly prone to not remembering things, or remembering them wrong, but I went back and checked the challenge post to make sure I wasn't crazy.) The prompt wasn't kirin-in-heat, it was "what happens when the saying 'you are what you eat' is true." No false advertising! *wheeze* XD;

Keiki-in-heat is probably worth exploring, though.
