Thanksgiving day was somewhat bearable. My grandmother actually called me for once. I hadn't spoken to her in about 6 weeks and she told me of her fall about 4 weeks ago where she broke her nose and one of her arms. Luckily she had one of those alert buttons you wear around your neck. Well what a surprise, my mother never called me about it or mention it when i saw her a few weeks ago. My grandmother went on saying how she's "the most pitiful person in the world", and how our family is a mess. Oh the drama. And it took her 85 years to discover our family is a "mess"? At the end of our conversation she says for me to call my mother, that she's not in good spirits and that my stepfather had to work for Thanksgiving . I was planning on calling anyway and when my mother answered the phone, she was definately not in poor spirits. She was cooking; my stepfather didn't have to work til 11 PM and they had about 4 or 5 people over for dinner. It sounded like a party. One that i wasn't invited to. She said she figured i had plans. I mentioned my grandmother's fall, and that she didn't bother to call me. She just said "yeah". Why do i bother?
Around 2:30 i headed over to Bill's to have dinner with him, Cameron, Bill's mother, sister, his daughter Lucy, her girlfriend, and Lucy's 8 year old son. It wasn't quite the traditional dinner i was used to (we watched football as we ate) but it was a good time. I'm having some stomach "issues" so i didn't actually stuff myself.
Saturday morning i drove up to Asbury Park, NJ for Santa Saturday. I had a room at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel. A renovated 1930's hotel that turned out to be quite nice. Around 12:30 I met up with some of my PA buds over at Paradise.
philabearjoe and John were there, the sexy Craig and Ryan, Butch and Jimmy, and John and Kevin up from Wilmington. It was a great time with several of our group getting quite drunk before it was even time for dinner. We went across the street to an Italian restuarant and had decent meal. Jimmy was so funny as he proclaimed "everything is sooooooo good" several times, quite loudly. Afterward we went to John and Joe's room to check on Joe and Jimmy and Butch layed down to relax, so i headed over to my hotel for an hour disco nap in preparation for the second half of the night over at The Stone Pony. Well in that hour my sinuses and throat started bothering me, so i took a benedryl and i was down for the night. The ride home on Sunday was a little slow at a couple points, but not too bad. And my cold seems to be a mild one.
