AEIOQS?

This is the situation. Clearly, I have SEQuOIA and Dave just blocked all of my places to play it. Lame. Looking for a while, nothing seems to be a very good play. I can play OE/JOE for 14 or exchange either AQO or IOQ. I chose to do the last one. But Kenji had something else in mind. Kenji thinks I should play EO/JOO. Wiegand will challenge it off, clearly. But just about every single play Wiegand could make will open up an S hook for me to play SEQUOIA next turn. Don't believe that? Just look at the board. (yes, I know not EVERY play allows for sequoia, like, say, ATLATL 10F, but really, what are the odds of that?)

But what happens if Wiegand smells something fishy about my intentional phoney? Well, he won't make a play, because he most assuredly will open something up if he does. So odds are he'll exchange. Okay, that's fine. Then I'll just pass. He, faced with the same dilemma, will exchange again if he doesn't have a bingo or something. So that's fine too. Then I will boldly pass, making 5 turns of zero in a row. I know, this is really dumb to do with the Q on my rack and a three point lead. But since I'm up 18-15, Wiegand must assume that I am confident I will win the game if he passes too. After all, I could be making the same plays with, say, ATONIES, or something of the sort. So Wiegand is forced to assume I don't have the Q and must open the board this turn or face a certain loss (which is actually a near-certain win), thus allowing me to play SEQuOIA.

So, moral of the story? Kenji is god. And the other moral? JOO is the right play.
