Fifteen Stars

I used to believe that adults served two things to children; there were roots, to help them remember the importance of where they came from and what they meant. They were roots to make sure that when they gave the children wings, they would be there to catch them if they fell down again, without making them have to worry and stare over their shoulders to make sure there's still a branch for them to alight on.

Lately, I feel like adults can only serve one purpose, and that's to be not a root for a tree or a nest to come back to, but an object lesson. We were so much better as people, as children, and we think that when we get older we're going to do a lot of brave, important things.

But really, we just do things we shouldn't, and instead of serving as an example we serve as a warning.

P.S.

ALL THE GODS ARE BASTARDS!

Hahaha...where did I put my cup...
