That's because your calligraphy is atrocious. A blind man has better penmanship. You know, Gintoki, you should have studied more when you went to school. Some of us didn't have the money growing up to go to a school. Some of us were barely allowed to wave a sword around. You should have appreciated your education more and today you would have been a calligrapher that is up to par.

You know, I had to scrub a lot of floors and take out a lot of trash and do a lot of dishes to put myself through school.

And besides, I did just fine in school! My calligraphy just left me no room for improvement. And they say swordsmen are supposed to have the finest handwriting. My ass.
