Arven wants to know these things about me, so blame her. LOL

1. We always seem to share cyber drinks so I shall start there. Favorite drink and with that, favorite memory associated with it.

My favorite drink depends on my mood, but Caol Ila is a safe bet anytime (a single malt whisky). Unfortunately, there is no special memory that goes with it. But gin with Sweppes Ruschian, that is my favorite every summer, there is a story to tell: We were having a very  "wet" weekend at a cottage, and it was a hot, hot day. One needed to drink a lot, just because of the heat, of course. Anyway, I had a problem. The drink has sugar in it, and flies noticed it. So, I needed a tankard, with a lid. But there was no such thing in the cabin. So I used a coffee pot, the kind people use with coffee machines, you know. Well, my friends just lifted a brow. But, after rowing our little rowing boat to the nearest bar -- it took an hour -- you should have seen the expressions I got from the people on the pier when I climbed out of the boat with my nearly empty coffee pot in hand. I was not completely steady...

2. Did you have a dream that you gave up and if so, are you glad and can you tell us why?

I wanted to become an architect, but I wasn't good enough at maths, so I think everybody should be glad I gave that up.

3. We always discuss books, so next question, do you have a favorite book and if so, what is it and why?

I love books, like Brian Kinney loves asses: the more you sample the better you can appreciate the good ones. But to pick just one. Hmm. I think that the best is C.J. Cherryh's Foreigner. It's serious, it's hilarious, it lingers in mind for a long time when I read it. I fell in love with the main character, Bren. He is intelligent, adorable and hot. GRRRR.

4. What is your favorite place to go to when you need to get away from everyone?

I can get away from everyone by just concentrating on my own thoughts / writing or on a book ( sometimes even a movie or a TV show), but a place where I find it most pleasant to do? A café or a restaurant where I can sit alone in a table, and where there are no children running wild and screaming. I guess that is the perfect place for me. There are other people, but they don't care about me; for them, I don't exist. It's a kind of freedom, a freedom without being isolated from others. I enjoy those situations.

5. Who is your best friend and why? (I normally would qualify this and say if you have one, but I think you do and I think I know who it is, which isn't always a given, but in your case seems to be true but I want to know why.:) )

You know me well, Arwen. I do have a best friend and, I think you knew this too, it's my husband. He is the one person who accepts me as I am. Well, almost as I am. More so than anyone else I know of. He isn't trying to change me into someone else: he tolerates what he can't accept. He can live with me even if I demand complete equality between the two of us. He is smart enough for me: I can have adult discussions with him. He listens to me. He doesn't always do what I tell him to, but he listens. He is supportive, but he is never patronizing. He trusts me, and I trust him. I get none of that romantic crap from him that I hate, for he hates it even more than I do, but he "strikes nails to my wall for my paintings, sits at my table having morning-coffee, and shares my laundry day." (lyrics by Pekka Ruuska) Most of the time, we have fun. He lets me have my own life, and he has his own. He is never oppressive or unreasonably possessive.  Sometimes I want to kick his ass, he can be a stubborn idiot at times, but more often I kiss him than kick him. And last but not least, he understood from the very beginning of our relationship why I do not want children, and he could accept that.
