Free!

Summer is coming here, up north. Not with rush, mind, but it's on it's way. The lake, beside which our cottage is located, has lost it's ice cover. Free water, yay! and our spring has drinkable water again, double yay! Nothing is better for my hair than the lake water, and nothing tastes as fresh as spring water right from the spring. Me and my husband are leaving to the cottage for the Easter weekend, in a couple of hours that is. I wish you have a happy Easter weekend or the weekend of some other kind, everyone!

I feel as free as I picture the lake to be. My work troubles are over for the next four months: I'll be working in my current job for that much longer, at least. There's some peace of mind to find in that relative stability. I have the freedom to make decisions regarding the summer now.

So, what is freedom? According to my recent experiences, freedom does not come from being able to do anything one wants. Instead, it comes from the number of the choices one has. If one has just one choice, it's not freedom even if that choice is exactly what one wants to do. The feeling of freedom seems to come from the possibility to make decisions, not from those decisions themselves.
