to respond to chelsea's request, i am officially updating (hehe) its weird, i never come to this site anymore, i guess it shows how hectic my life has become *sigh*
anyways, to answer some ppls questions i went to Jamaica over Spring Break to work with some boys who were sent to this place called "the place of safety" either for crimes they committed (the older boys were there because of attempted murder and murder)or they were living in dangerous environments. These boys ages range from 11- 19. I really cant describe the experience properly on a lj post, it really doesn’t do it justice.....but i learned so much about myself from this trip, and as cliché and this sounds, i feel changed by this trip
the poverty was not a surprise but disconcerting as always( i have been exposed to extreme poverty in China), the intimacy was a little shocking at first (and understandable, they are teenage boys, they get horny haha), but the relationships that i developed with some of the boys, even though i was only given a week to get to know them, was worth everything-from being taught by the boys how to dance to ragae to turoring 13 years how to multiply to getting to know some of the coolest people i have ever met

haha, haquiem and tyrone coolest people ever, both of them kicked my ass at soccer, and i have the bruises to prove it
lil' bit of football (we played at least 3 hours everyday, it was so intense but reallly fun)

haha, and of course Samuel, aghhh im going to miss him SO much, i love this kid, the sweetest 11 year old i have ever met
