"I feel so underdressed," she lamented as she exited the crowded washroom at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Indeed she was, clad only in a teeny tiny spaghetti top and a pair of shorts, an outfit prefect for lounging at home or at the beach but definitely NOT a night out in town.

In my list of pet peeves, the one at the top has to be girls not wearing enough. C'mon, you can only blame so much on the weather. Even fashion extraordinaire, Jeanette Ejlersen has this to say, "I like to see Singaporean women more covered up. I like them to suggest rather than reveal. I think it's distasteful to reveal so much. Singaporean women are quite thin and their figures are quite nice but I find it vulgar. They all wear the same thing, it's like a uniform. It's like a contest for who can wear the smallest top and lowest hip-hugger jeans." - URBAN, 21 July 05

And I couldn't agree more.

FASHION TIP #7: Wearing black has a slimming effect; wearing white has a "widening" effect. White is not a suitable colour for everybody so be careful when picking out white items. Avoid white bottoms and wear a striking top to draw the attention away from your pear-shaped figure/heavy bottom. You have been warned.

p/s Hearing from people who've been living abroad/travelling just makes me yearn to embark on an adventure myself. The Big Apple beckons. Sigh.
