“Cas. Cas. Cas. Cas. Cati-fucking-el are you even listening to me?” Lucifer growled in Cas’ ear, the soldier and once god still angel didn’t move, didn’t blink. He did not acknowledge anyone these days. It was easier to not do it. He didn’t need to sleep so his vessel was not affected the way Sam was.
This was one of the few things he had done on his own without anyone asking him to do it. This was his punishment for what he had done, it was only right for it to be like this. For him to take on the suffering he had brought onto Sam. Even this, was marginal to what he had done. something that Lucifer reminded him of every day.
“You killed fourty four angels and over 400 humans on the planet just with the RAW numbers,” Lucifer said calmly as Cas finally looked toward him.
“I know how many i killed, thank you, Lucifer,” Cas said as Lucifer grinned at the acknowledgement, “But it was nowhere near close to how many angels and humans you have killed. You are the worst angel of the family, not I.” He then turned back to the door and kept staring even as Lucifer snorted.
“True…” Lucifer mumbled, “Do you know just how much harder you are to read than Sam? I barely knew you at all…but I know your recent acts, that you betrayed the only true family you had left. Dean, Sam and Bobby, Bobby who is dead now because of the Leviathans you released you foolish little angel.” Cas did not flinch, did not react, even though his grace twisted in discomfort. That, that was true, what Lucifer had said. He’d torn apart the small misfit second family he’d had. Though he was trying to make it right. He had told Dean he would redeem himself; this was a part of it. This…this was the least he could do.
Two months, three days and two hours later Castiel is still in the same ward, still being watched, still being harassed by Lucifer…his resistance is fading, it is getting worn down. He needed another to speak to besides Lucifer and Meg…
So when another doctor appeared, walking through that door, Castiel didn’t acknowledge him. Lucifer had been trying many things lately. He’d even gone through a whole scenario where Dean and Sam had come back and taken him out into the light of day, had told him he was forgiven and they wanted to take down the Leviathan with him…only for Castiel to find he was only at the end of the hall of the mental ward. It was the first time he had cried. The first time Lucifer had led him deep into a illusion that he had believed.
The doctor checked his pulse, golden hair falling forward as he picked up his stethoscope and put it to Cas’ heart, then shone a light into his eyes.
“Well, I’ll be damned again, a person I couldn’t dream of making appear,” Lucifer said from his corner, sounding shocked. That’s what caused Cas to blink and look seriously at the doctor in front of him as he pulled back and got a clipboard and started writing on it.
It’s Gabriel, Gabriel who doesn’t seem to expect Cas to respond.
“Gabriel,” He whispers, and Gabriel’s head snaps immediately to him. Gabriel’s grin could light up the planet, but it most certainly lit up the room.
“Hey, Cassie, you finally noticed me hm? Or Did the Luci in your belfry point me out?” Gabriel asked as he sat down next to Cas.
“Lucifer pointed you out…” He mumbles in embarrassment, but Gabriel just pulls him close and kisses his forehead.
“I can fix you Cas.” He says as Cas blinks at him and Gabriel wraps a wing around his brother, “You can help the Winchesters in their fight against the Leviathan. Better than you sitting there and wasting away,” He says calmly, Cas…nodded slowly as Gabriel grinned and pressed a hand to Cas’ forehead.
Everything went white and blue and it felt like his insides are on fire even as with a gasp, Cas is waking up on a hotel bed with gold walls around him, and he finds he is in his usual pre-Emanuel attire, everything clean and typical of him. He sees the Winchesters kinda staring at him, then there’s a ahem from the corner and they all look to Gabriel, standing there in his own usual attire.
“Well? You’re welcome for my fixing him and joining the Team Fail will. Now what?”
Everyone looked between each other and then sighed, “Well,” Dean speaks up, “First we make sure Cas is really sound, and then we go and kill us a Dick.”
Gabriel snorted, “Sounds good to me, Cas?” He looks to Cas who is standing up, nodding.
“It is time we righted my mistake.”
