Because My Inner Fangirl, She is Twirling All Willy Nilly Down that Road Paved by Obsession

Feb 28, 2010 22:04

Tea Delgado fell down Todd Manning's rabbit hole on "One Life to Live," and damn her, she's taken me with her. Again. I say "damn her" because this rabbit hole is VERY, VERY TWISTY and stuff, and the good, to bad, to downright 'wait, WTF now?' of it all is giving me motion sickness. Crazy ride though it may be, it is my fictional 'go to place' these days and now that the 'on' switch has been tripped, who am I with my weak little heart muscle to put up any real act of resistance?

Despite the fact that I have no icon spaces left myself and I think .02% of my friendslist has any clue who these people are---I recently found myself iconing my fingers off and now I will bug you senselessly with a post about it. ;)

The writing for my team TnT is a bit 'all over the place' right now, and there are possible contract negotiations going bad that have the potential to break my twosome and my heart, but in the midst of all of this 'shouldn't I jump off this roller coaster ride now??!!' The actors? Have the best energy together. So even when it sucks a little they are fabulous. They play the best stuff, the full throttle right on target feel it all the way down into the marrow of your bones stuff brilliantly and with dramatic aplomb. But I think what I really love about them is that they make even the mundane, the repetitive, and the out in left field brand of writing decisions full of something SERIOUSLY eat slam up with the awesome by coloring outside of the lines.

That sneaky TsJ loves to keep people on their toes. Sometimes he does this by using his hair as an additional character. He walks out of a scene nicely coiffed by soap opera standards and walks back into it like this:

That, my friends, is a man daring his co-star to try to get through a scene without acknowledging the out of control animal on his head. He sizes her up and squints his eyes.

And Florencia looks down, she looks to the side, she tries her darndest to just leave it alone---and then she gives up, gives it an amused smile, and pets it.

OMG, my fangirl is all "THIS KIND OF GAUNTLET THROWN OUT THERE AND ANSWERED SO ADORKABLY?" Rules my world.

You've got to keep your eyes on them at all times because there is often something wicked going on beneath the dialogue that came off the page or the blocking maneuvers that they had agreed on earlier.

At 2:09, this contains my most favorite "I was trying to be all soapy dramatic and you totally pulled that offbeat non-scripted crap out of nowhere and have cracked my shit up in the middle of this scene" moment to date. So much love. And the 'let's shake on it' and the resulting case of the out of control giggles that Flo gets? Made it better. Broke it out of the soapy cookie cutter high drama stuff that people don't really say in reality. I'm so glad that they went with this version. (Warning: If you watch this, there is shameful sexaliciousness involved.)

I love to watch them challenge each other both with the meaty intended material and the 'let me lob this random one at you and see how you respond' improv that seems to be their signature.

Also? It has been scientifically proven that Trevor definitely knows where Florencia's tickle spots are and that he loves to go for them in most ill timed moments. Rotten boy. :op

ADORE THEM LIKE WHOA.

And so...yeah. That's basically what I've done with my weekend. Now can I have another, please? I think there was other stuff that I was supposed to do.
