  1. bluegrass:
My favorite music ever... but I never listen to it. I heard a station out west (utah) that had it on 24/7. They had all these bluegrass covers of classic rock songs, my favorite being Pink Floyds "Brain Damage/Eclipse". Life changing.
  2. daniel clowes:
A friend had a bunch of his stuff at the apartment i subletted one summer. I love ghost world, but the other stuff is creepier. Which is good. The movie of ghost world didn't really thrill me, though. I would have liked it if I hadn't read the comic. Why isn't there a vespa in ghost world?
  3. experimental video:
Watching experimental anything is a gamble at best, but doing it is divine. It's like the difference between porn and sex. But when it comes to making stuff I feel that way about everything.
  4. gillian welch:
I fall down hills and sink into car seats when hearing her stuff. And she and David Rawlings are even better live. One of my favorite song writers. During a lull at one of her shows, there were dozens of shouted requests showered upon her as she tuned her guitar. She leaned into the microphone and said "we're going to play one you don't know."
  5. kevin costner:
Absolutely terrible actor. "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" could be the most boring movie ever to dribble out of Hollywood's spent vine. But I'm fascinated by him. He's done alright stuff, Fandango, that Clint Eastwood flick... but he's so damned arrogant and trite. How can someone make such bad movies and not be a scientologist or born-again? I guess that's what I'm trying to find out. Would never ride a vespa.
  6. mod fuck explosion:
Jon Moritsugu movie, filled with craziness. I've seen one of his other films and it was equally crazy. Motorcycles, mods, meat... what else could you want? Vespas, sure. Unrest, the greatest band in the universe, pretending to be an angry japanese punk band? Yup. To be honest, I like the soundtrack more than the movie. "Hiroshima! We will never forgive you!" I know I know
  7. paul auster:
Depressing, dry, too clever for his own good. I eat that stuff up. Post modern existential blah blah blah... When I'm in the mood it's all I need.
  8. run lola run:
Candy candy candy. Fun german style, great music, great hair, great screaming, maybe even a vespa or two. Saw it in the theater and practically ran out at the end, ready to change the world or go crazy. Instead got drunk.
  9. teh ching hsieh:
Expatriate (sp.?) Thai performance artist who did one year peices. One year in a cage, one year tied to a woman (no sex, apparently they wanted to kill each other by the end), one year punching a clock every hour 24/7, one year outside (he got arrested, there are pics of him screaming as they dragged him inside the station). There's a kind of mindless DIY "searching for the source" drive in him, I guess. Lot of envy on my part.
  10. wes anderson:
Stylistically the spawn of Hal Hartley, who I used to say was my favorite director, but I avoided Hal for a while and now he seems a little dated. Everything that Hal did that seemed so fresh and new has been mastered by Wes. Perhaps 3 letter first names will always have a hold on the quirky indie movie gems. Wim Wenders and Jim Jarmusch are in the club too, of course. Wes probably rides a vespa. Bob says I look like him.

saw katamari damacy 2 on the ps2, tonight. Scarily it knows what date it is. Music is still good. Pill heads are still cute as buttons.

Sang song about lesbians the other night. At a friends studio. Singing makes me want to pass out.
