careful 'round that randy Lancelot

Another $188 into my car. Tiny knives. Poking poking poking.
Saw that King Arthur flick last night. "It is as it was," sayeth the pope, "well, except for the whole Lancelot thing... and yeah they got some dates mixed up... and that ice scene was ridiculous..." Anyway it was fun. Merlin acted like those older action figures from the 70s that couldn't turn their heads. In fact I'm not sure if I remember him moving at all. Rather than the *true* story of Arthur, it seemed to be more them just fucking with the classic tales while throwing in a few historical details. There was the typical post-Usual Suspects twist at the end, which every other movie seems to have these days. There's something reality tv-ish about those twist endings to me. Like some sort of gen-x seen-it-all cynicism watered down to a mainstream level. I asked tlachtga, a veritable walking Arthurian appendix, what the best King Arthur film ever made was, she replied "Monty Python & the Holy Grail". Can't argue with that logic.
It was PG-13, by the way, so no heads roll, no eyes get plucked out by ravens (a'la Excalibur), and Kiera's breasts remain tucked away behind straps of leather. But there's always the dvd...
