Title: Blame It On the Movies
Author: Candyland
Fandom: Invader Zim: An incompetent alien invader comes to Earth to conquer it, mostly so his leaders (the Almighty Tallest) can get rid of him. He brings with him a robot named Gir, who is obsessed with tacos and pigs, and faces off against a kid named Dib, who is Earth's only hope. In short, we're screwed.

Zim was acting even more…well, Zim-like that usual today. At least that was Dib's observation as he watched his fellow student from across the room. He always kept a close eye on Zim, every day, except for that one week when he was out with a bad case of the flu. Dib wasn't entirely sure what had happened during that week, but he had noticed that several of his classmates got very jumpy whenever anyone mentioned toothpaste.

In a rare display of common sense, Dib had decided not to ask.

It wasn't until after Skool let out, though, that Dib got to confront his nemesis on the matter of Zim's disturbingly Zim-like behavior. He caught up to the alien near Zim's house. "Zim!" he said in the most dramatic fashion he could manage. "I know you're planning something!"

The look he got in response could only be described as smug. "Foolish Dib human!" Zim cackled, further proving that any exchange between the two could only be punctuated by exclamation points. "Your planet is doomed. DOOOOOOMED!"

This had become their routine, really, and it went on for several more minutes. Dib glared. Zim glared back. Dib demanded answers. Zim laughed. Dib threatened to do something ungentlemanly to Zim's squeedilyspooch. Zim said something uncouth about Dib's probable destination after death.

Just another day at the office, really. If by office, one meant "in front of Zim's house."

Finally, after a few minutes of this, Zim turned suddenly and stalked back towards his house. "I have no time to deal with you today," the alien said. "I have many things to plan. OF EVIL!" He paused with the door half open before whipping around and barking one more thing at Dib. "You stupid, stupid human!"

The door slammed, and Zim was gone.

Dib stood there for a minute. Why did that sound familiar?

It was then that he noticed Zim had dropped something. Figuring it to be an alien relic or some sort of device crucial to Zim's plans for world conquest, Dib immediately picked it up. Was it proof that he was right? Was it the key to saving the world?

Actually, it turned out to be a DVD. Zim had apparently discovered Earth movies.

Dib read the title.

Plan 9 from Outer Space.

…suddenly, Dib had a very, very bad feeling about whatever it was that Zim was planning.
