First day in Tokyo!

Feb 09, 2005 21:41

Just a quick update, as I need to get a shower soon and then go to sleep. Because of the time difference thing, I haven't slept for about 30 hours. I haven't really felt that tired, but the floor moves like I'm on a boat and I get these attacks of nausea...

When we took the train from the airport to Tokyo we were looking out the window with our mouths open in awe! The trees were amazing! They were so big and there were so many different kinds of them! And the houses! They were built so tight together, they formed a colorful quilt. Some of them looked like they were from a fairy-tale, others like they were from some suburbian paradise, and some like they were from some futuristic sci-fi movie!

Tokyo is great! Our room in the hotel is really small, and the light is so dim you can't read there, but othervise it's cozy. The Tokyo metro/train system is fortunately very easy, so we haven't had any problems moving around.

We met Akiko and her friend Naoko today, we went to the Chinatown in Yokohama. It was great, and I took some amazing pictures! We ate at a Chinese restaurant, and it was completely different from Finland! There's so much to tell, but I haven't got much time on the computer. I'll write more later.
