DA Fic - There's A Hole In Your Soul - PG

Jul 28, 2013 16:03

Title:  There's A Hole In Your Soul
Author: candycentric - AKA Cc
Pairing: Alec/Other, Max/Alec,
Rating: PG? ish?
Type: one-shot, for now
Warnings: Eh, this is sorta bleak, I'll be honest. Not my usual crack! or feel good fic.
Prompt: Like the majority of the fic ideas lately, this one, too, came from a song. However, by the time I got around to putting it to paper I forgot what song gave me the idea! I liked this line from a Depeche Mode song and thought it might work instead.
Disclaimer: Dark Angel is not mine, I just like to pretend.  Sadly not making any money off this.  'A Pain That I'm Used To' is also not mine and belongs to Depeche Mode.

A/N: Wrote this a while back. I kind of have a picture of what world this might belong in, but you know me. Don't hold your breath for anything else. But, you never know...

Summary: There's something wrong with him, but it's okay. There's something wrong with her, too. Maybe that's why they can't stay away from each other

"We've got an Eyes Only gig on the outskirts of town tonight."

He's says this as he's stuffing clean socks and a black t-shirt in an overnight bag, with his back turned to Kayla.  That's how most of their conversations tend to go.

She doesn't ask who 'we' is, she doesn't have to.  Alec pretends not to think about this in too much detail.

"I've got my six month check up tomorrow at noon.  You missed the last appointment. I know your really busy and all, but I'd really like it if you could come."

Her face tells him she is in fact hopeful he will be there, but that hope is overshadowed by doubt.

His face shows nothing.

Inwardly however, he winces, remembering exactly what and who he was doing while she was sitting alone in the clinic waiting for him to show.   This bothers him, he'd be lying if he said it didn't, but he can't say he altogether regrets it either.  It was some of the best sex of his entire existence.  And it had nothing to do with the mother of his unborn child.

There's a special spot in hell reserved for people just like him, he's sure of it. Of course, there's a special spot reserved for people like Max as well.  He can't help but realize that at least they'll each have someone to keep them company for an eternity of no doubt rightly deserved pain and suffering.

"I'll be there."  Alec assures her, making a mental note to actually try this time.  "I've got my cell if there's an emergency, otherwise we'll probably be on silent mode."

She smiles at him and he tries to return it but can't quite make it reach his eyes.  She pretends not to notice and grabs him before he can flee out the door.  It's the most contact they've had in three days.

"Be careful, Alec"

He readjusts the backpack up higher on his shoulder, wishing she would just leave him be while knowing how much of an ass that makes him.

"Always"

And he's gone again.
