before we start let me state for the record that this is my first tutorial ever so if things are confusing or unclear, just leave a comment and i'll try to clear it up. :)
first find a picture. i'll be using this one. crop it, resize it and sharpen it to your liking. i sharpened once, but it all depends on your image. now your base should be all ready to go!
duplicate your base, set it to softlight with the opacity at 70%.
make a new layer. fill it with #f5ebce, set it to multiply with the opacity at 90%.
duplicate that layer and set the opacity to 60%.
duplicate your base, drag it to the top. set it to soft light. opacity: 40%.
we're going to use the above texture, made by colorfilter.
copy and paste the texture onto your icon.
set it to screen and make the opacity 88%.
your layers should look like this:
now merge all your layers together! ... but we aren't done yet!
make a new layer.
put a regular, round brush (color: #2c779a) in the bottom right corner.
you should have this.
go to effects > blur > gaussian blur. set the radius to 18.00
now set the layer to screen, opacity at 85%.
merge again!
to prevent copying i'm going to leave the text & any other brushes up to you. i didn't do anything special to mine except rotate them. for those of you who don't know, to rotate a brush simply create a new layer, put your brush on that layer and use the deformation tool to rotate it. :) keep in mind this is just a sort of guideline. play with the opacities and such.
