Challenge 3

Aug 24, 2007 00:29

Sorry for the delay! I was putting off posting this so it could give the girls who need an extension a little more time to complete it. (You guys didn't mind the break, did you? XD)

Modeling is used for many different things. From high fashion clothing to cars, having a model handy can help sell something, and sell it fast. Commercial ads are a huge part of a model's paycheck, and having a contract, like the one offered by Au Naturel cosemetics as a prize for this competiton, could make a career.

That's why this week's emphasis is on commercial modeling.. And your challenge is..

Spontaneous Ads
In case you have no idea what that means, it means that each of you is going to have a different 300x400 ad, like in a magazine, to do. You will have to do the entire ad. Your responsibilities include:

-A name for the product.
-A logo for the product.
-A slogan for the product.
-A picture of the product.
-A picture of yourself using the product.

All of these things should be arranged in the ad in a way that appeals to all ages. Not just one target market--teenagers or senior citizens for example--but women in general, young and old. Take a look at what's in more grown-up magazine ads, like Redbook or Elle (NOT ElleGIRL) to get an idea of what we want. Also, you can take a look at last cycle's runner up Megan's ad for Au Naturel.

Here are the assignments:

Ava- Body Wash
Max-B- Perfume
Cati- Anti-Aging Creme
CJ- Hair Product
Elizabeth- Shoes
Holly- Handbag
Kristen- Jewelry
Leona- Lingerie
Ruby- Hosiery
Zephyr- Nail Polish

Some of you, you may have noticed, will probably have to do close-ups for your ads. These girls in particular: Max-B, CJ, and Zephyr. Others who could achieve a great ad using close-ups are Cati, Kristen and Ava. While it's not required for the latter three, for the first, it would be in your best interest to try a close up.

But don't worry! Unlike last cycle's finale, we won't send you off into the woods without a map! For those of you who may need it, here's a tutorial on how to great pretty close-ups using things that should be on every computer!

1. Take your doll (with completed editing or not, it doesn't really matter) and zoom in the size you want it to be in your ad.
2. Hit the print screen button on PCs, on Macs, hit shift+apple+3. (Thanks, Holly-mun!)
3. Paste it as a new image.

Voila! If your pixels were clean, the close-up should come out looking pixelated, but not OVERLY pixelated. We've done it before, so we know it would work!

Remember your requirements:
300x400 ad with product name and logo, picture of product, picture of yourself using or engaging with the product with a catchy slogan.
BE CREATIVE. Don't rip off real names for products!

This challenge is going to be judged on the overall ad and how well you put it together, plus some creativity and, of course, how you look in the ad. Whoever puts together the best ad wins!

This is due on September 2nd, before midnight.
Remember the rules, follow our directions, and work hard!
GOOD LUCK!
